Natural Hazard Vulnerability Assessments
The Caribbean region due to its geographic location is vulnerable to the effects of natural hazards arising
from hurricane and seismic activity. These natural hazards cause much damage to the natural and built environments.
The degree to which an individual or community is vulnerable to the hazard will significantly determine the impact of
the hazard on their lives.
CEP has worked throughout the Caribbean with international non-governmental organisations to assist in determining the extent of damage to houses and medical facilities following the aftermath of natural hazard events. Following Hurricane Ivan in Grenada in 2004 and the Haiti Earthquake in 2010, CEP also assisted in providing training seminars to builders and engineers in the respective territories.
Our geographic reach enables us to offer rapid responses to these events. We have provided rapid structural condition assessments and assistance on arriving at a scene of a natural disaster.
